Riding Ability Chart

All of our horses are honestly and correctly represented to the best of our knowledge. If we say in the ad a horse is green, we expect the potential buyer to be able to acknowledge the fact that the horse is unfinished. Horses can be dangerous in the wrong hands. If at anytime in the buying and trial process we feel the horse is not a good fit, we will expect the potential buyer to respect the decision regardless if they have the money to buy the horse or not.

Here is a chart we have come up with to help us further distinguish the experience level of a potential buyer. We do this so we can identify the best match for horse and rider. Please honestly represent your riding level.

ABSOLUTE BEGINNER - This person has little or no experience with horses. Does not know how to correctly halter and saddle a horse, or correctly cue a horse when riding.

ADVANCED BEGINNER - Knows the basics (can correctly halter, saddle, and bridle) they can correctly mount a horse, but have an unsteady seat and when riding and would still need to be supervised by either a trainer or an experienced rider.

INTERMEDIATE - This person has a sure, steady, and comfortable seat. They do not give the horse wrong cues (accidentally squeezing with their legs to regain balance). Rides frequently and is not nervous with a faster more responsive horse. They feel comfortable at the walk trot and lope. An intermediate rider will have ridden for years and has ridden many different horses. An intermediate rider is capable or riding a green or skittish horse.

ADVANCED - This rider is a confident, experienced rider, and can do all of the above. This person feels comfortable riding an unbroke colt or shows in advanced levels of shows. They are completely capable of handling themselves in any horse related situation and would feel comfortable giving lessons.
